| This entry is one of
bits and pieces I feel.
I have started to record my supervision sessions and reflect on them in a much
more active way. Sitting in on my own supervision session as an observer was
very odd at first. However, its does allow me to re-experience the learning and
take a few notes on the side. I am thinking that I may just add another page to
this Log which would be issues that we raise in those supervision sessions.
I'll think about the best way to use those ideas over the next few days or so.
Last week I had a new client which is always welcome and this week I have three
new clients starting so its looks as though take off time has come. Maybe its
just the start of winter. Its interesting that clients have come from referrals
from other clients with one coming from my advert in the Thompson Local. I'll
review my stats about clients and put the data here.
One of the new issues that I am dealing with the is the desire of people with
Aids returning to work. The effect of combination therapy is to provide a level
of good health which is allowing people to work again. A couple of clients now
have the problem of not being able get the training they need but more
problematic is the fact that some caring professionals seem unwilling to let go
of people with Aids. It seems that once a person is ill they are forever ill.
So, here am I reframing perceptions of illness, helping people to reclaim their
lost resources and create a healthy future only to be told of others who refuse
to join in and celebrate this change. The service providers are not keeping in
step with the needs of those who actually use the service. Watch this space.
As a postscript to the new clients I mentioned above, one of them called and
cancelled. This is slightly better than two other clients who didn't turn up
for their first appointments. My policy for this is to charge clients unless
there is a good reason. Clients who cancel with less than 12 hours notice are
charged the full hourly rate - none has refused to pay this. On a brighter note
I gained another new client so some sort of balance is restored and perhaps the
other client will return at a later date.
