| I hadn't intended to write an entry
today but the events of Friday mean that I really should record my thoughts.
You may be wondering what event. Well, I mean
the bomb that went off in Soho.
My friend Edmund rang me to tell me the news and that it was being carried on
the BBC 24 hour news channel. I spent the next few hours watching the pictures
and interviews as they came in. I also spent some time calling friends to
ensure they were OK. I guess that there is nothing specific I can say at this point except record the event and remind myself of the importance of ensuring that I don't fall into the trap of believing that as a gay man I am vulnerable to attack. Roy and I went up to Old Compton Street today to see the reality of the place and get a feel for the atmosphere. It was good to see that so many people were there and that they hadn't been scared off. I wonder how people will react when / if the perpretrators are found. |
