Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapy Development Log. 2001 |
|
February 7th
2001 |
I meant to get this Log back up and running in January but work and
life got in the way. I've re-formatted the look of the site which I hope makes
it a bit clearer. I've also had some feedback from Peter Young about his
workshop at the PCS Conference. I'll put that in here asap.
At the end
of last year there was the usual flurry of activity about re-accreditation.
Infact I decided to be more relaxed about it and waited. However, November
turned to December and no information about the proces was forthcoming. This
unsetteled me a bit.
However, in our
eGroup a
message was put up that the re-accreditation would take place in March 2001. So
that means the costs will be spread a bit - as well as the pressure to complete
the forms. The initial form was daunting, although most of the information
requested is fairly standard - it just needs pulling together. Last year's
process can be read here.
Today I received the details of this re-accreditation and its getting more
streamlined as time goes on which has to be good. Rather than the forms that
I've had to complete in the past this year I need my supervisers report,
Certificate of Insurance and evidence of my continuing Professional
Development.
I've realised that I participated in a course last
November that I've not written up so I need to do that. It was a course on NLP
and General Semantics given by Michael Hall. I need to go back to my notes and
write about it.
Also at the end of last year I was asked to
participate in some stop smoking groups for a health authority in Surrey. The
group is a weekly meeting for 7 week. There is three weeks of preparation
followed by four of support and instruction after the quit date. This has given
me the chance to develop my NLP skills with groups. It interesting in that my
co trainer is a colleague with whom I've worked in the past and my
understanding is that in this process its his training that I am adding to. As
he does the conscious information giving I am doing the unconscious goal
setting. The balance works because he trusts me. After this I am running two
further 7 week courses on my own so I'll have to remember to do both
parts.
The initial group didn't take off so we re-scheduled for this
year. Interestingly when I was asked what I would charge for running this
programme I automatically added on £200 to cover the management of the
account and travel. This work led another colleague to ask me to facilitate an
awayday for her department. After initial discussions I discovered that there
was no structure for the day so I had to advise her that developing the day
would add extra costs - some 3 hours or so. So, she worked on this with a
colleague of hers and the day was arranged with a little input from me. Costs
have been maintained for her, I lost a bit, but more importantly she and her
colleagues have much more ownership of the process and I hope the
outcome.
